Friends Long Lost

The Big Chill meets The Strangers in this intimate thriller, as a group of thirty-somethings on a remote getaway are haunted by their past—and an actual killer.

The Logline

Old friends are stalked by a slasher as they rehash a rocky decade of relationships at a remote cabin in the woods.

The Story at a Glance

It’s been 10 years since the who’s who of Halsey High all got back together, and they make for the mountains to reconnect. In between relitigating break-ups and comparing old aspirations to new realities, they examine the external expectations that prioritized certain relationships and behaviors while letting others fall through the cracks—as those forgotten show they haven’t forgiven.

The Characters

The story follows six old friends and the now-tenuous ties that bind. Jason, the QB-turned-tech-bro, aims to make amends; Regina, the head cheerleader, went from activist to corporate attorney; her ex Tracy is still sour she left the hometown cause. Vishal went from poli-sci major to conservative firebrand overnight, in direct conflict with Devin’s senatorial campaign and Molly’s pure journalistic passions. And one voice they all neglected to hear is about to make itself known.

The Bottom Line

Even among closest friends, our actions can be divisive—but often inaction is far more damaging. The things we do and say reflect our values, and evaluating those actions might reveal we favor the trivial over what’s really important.
