The Quail & The Queen

In a mythical high-fantasy world of warring kingdoms and reawakening magics, the Bryne family is just trying to keep their inn afloat—with mixed results.

The Logline

The awakening of ancient magics brings all sorts of characters to a classic fantasy town—to the chagrin of the local innkeepers.

The Story at a Glance

This high fantasy tale trades the epic for the episodic, as the trials and tribulations of a Game of Thrones-style kingdom are viewed through the eyes of a family who runs the local tavern, The Quail & The Queen. Each week, different characters darken the doorstep, bringing all manner of trouble with them, while the family just hopes that dragon doesn’t burn the damn place down. Again.

The Characters

Greta Bryne manages the inventory and the money, and can be harsh and loving to her guests, husband, and children. Husband Thom is a washed-up adventurer who quite prefers the quiet life. Their son, Griffin, would rather fuck the guests than serve them, while their younger daughter, Rhoswen, harbors ambitions of knighthood. Together, they keep the inn afloat and the family together—despite the dangers dragged in by their guests.

The Bottom Line

This series brings back the loving, imperfect family dynamic of The Simpsons and gives your favorite guest stars a shot at high fantasy (without a 6-season commitment or a 9-figure budget). Because maybe the next Game of Thrones can poke fun at The Next Game of Thrones…
